A 24-year-old man reportedly upset over the "delay" in formation of separate Telangana state committed suicide in Hyderabad, the police said on Wednesday.

A Bhooma Reddy, a native of Adilabad district, who was pursuing a multimedia computer course, was found hanging in his room at Erragadda in Hyderabad on Tuesday night, they said.

The Sanathnagar police found a suicide note purportedly written by Reddy in which he said, "I'm sacrificing my life for the cause of Telangana."

The suicide note further said, "I appeal the central government to immediately form Telangana or else more students (from the region) like me will resort to the extreme step," sources said.

Following a complaint from the house owner where Bhooma Reddy rented the room, the police booked a case. Further investigations are on.

Officials said over 20 people have committed suicide so far as part of the struggle for Telangana since November 29, 2009, though unconfirmed reports claim the number is much higher.
