A local court in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Sunday remanded to 14 days in police custody five persons arrested in connection with the Akshardham temple attack case.

They were produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate S H Oza.

Two of those arrested were Muslim clerics who ran relief camps in Ahmedabad and were identified as Mufti Abdul Kayoom Mansuri and Maulvi Abdul Miyan Sayyed.

The others were Salim Shaikh, Altaf Malek (both worked in Riyadh and allegedly hatched the conspiracy there) and Suleman Aadam Ajmeri.

Thirty-two people, including three security personnel, were killed when two armed terrorists attacked the temple on September 24, 2002.
