Arya Samaj leaders had earlier criticised Agnivesh for making an appearance on the reality television show Bigg Boss.
Viresh Chaudhary, managing trustee of Vallabhbhai Patel Foundation, alleged that the office at 7 Jantar Mantar Road from which Agnivesh operates belongs to the their organisation and he has refused to vacate it. "Agnivesh has been living there for last 25 years and has not paid even a single rupee as rent," he said.
"He is a fake and lunatic Arya Samaji," Acharya Baldev, an Arya Samaj leader told rediff.com over the telephone. He alleged that Agnivesh is a non-believer but proclaims himself to be a Arya Samaji. "He uses the word swami to hoodwink the Hindus. A case is pending in Punjab and Haryana high court against him filed by the Arya Samaj community. He is a self- styled Arya Samaj leader," said another leader from the community from Rohtak in Haryana.
Agnivesh denied the charges and dismissed them as false and concocted. "There is a case that was filed in Punjab and Haryana high court against my election as the president of the Arya Samaj. The court asked the petitioners to produce evidence against me and has given them three years. Till date, the petitioners have not been able to produce any evidence. But I continue to be the president of Arya Samaj," Agnivesh told rediff.com.
Talking about the non-payment of rent and grabbing the office of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Foundation, Agnivesh said when someone with legitimate documents approach him for vacating the premises he would do the needful. He claimed that he does not own any land in Delhi.
