After an impressive show in West Bengal both in the 15th general elections and the bypolls, Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Bannerjee now plans to make an entry into Uttar Pradesh politics and also contest the assembly elections scheduled to be held in 2012.

The president of the newly constituted state unit of Trinamool Congress, Rakesh Pandey in Lucknow told mediapersons that his party plans to field its candidates in the 2012 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

"Along with Mamata di's slogan of 'Ma, mati and manush ki raksha', we would also be attaching issues concerning the state by giving a slogan of 'bhay, bhookh aur bhrashtar se sangharsh' to seek people's support," Pandey said.

"The party would soon initiate people's agitation in the state against prevailing goondaraj and corruption," Pandey said adding that it would go among the masses and raise issues related to common people.

Former director general of police of West Bengal, Aziz Saifvi, who has been made convener of the party affairs in Uttar Pradesh, on the occasion said that while raising people's issues, the party would also be preparing for the assembly elections slated for 2012 on all the 403 Vidhan Sabha seats.
