The Bhartiya Janata Party on Wednesday cleared the air about confusion regarding the apparent two versions of the result of the meeting between senior leader L K Advani and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha chief Mohan Bhagwat.

While one version was carried by a leading Hindi newspaper attributing the sources close to the former deputy prime minister saying that he has been entrusted the responsibility to continue in office.

On the other hand, an English daily in its report said that the RSS chief has asked Advani to reconsider his plan to stay.

In an exclusive interview with Rediff.com, Advani said that he indeed plans to continue as the leader of the opposition.

"I am surprised by a report in a section of media that RSS chief is upset about my decision to continue as the leader of opposition. I did meet RSS chief on Monday and told him about BJP's fine performance during the parliament session," Advani said.

"During the course of our interaction I told him about a communication with the media that on the last day of the session, I intend to continue the charge as leader of opposition," the veteran leader added.
