In the backdrop of his war of words with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kuamr on Thursday asked Bharatiya Janata Party to adhere to certain principles and understanding to continue their alliance with his party Janata Dal-United.
"So far, BJP and JD-U have conformed to certain principles and understanding and I hope that in future too both the parties will stick to the guidelines to sustain the alliance," Kumar said at JD-U's state executive meeting held at his residence in Patna.
"The alliance is in tact so long as the understanding between the two parties is adhered to," he said.
Kumar flayed the Centre for rejection of the demand for according special category status to Bihar and asked his party to prepare an agitational programme to press for the same.
The inter-ministerial panel under the Planning Commission unjustifiably rejected the demand for special status to Bihar, Kumar said and asked the Centre to set up a committee of experts to look into the matter.
