Journalist Sandeep Unnithan’s book Black Tornado, The 3 Sieges of Mumbai lifts the veil off how the National Security Guard managed, against all odds, to beat back the terrorists entrenched in Hotel Taj Mahal, Hotel Oberoi and Chabad House in Mumbai.

Six years later, as the nation goes around patting itself on the back for thwarting the nefarious designs of the terrorists and their handlers in Pakistan and preventing another terror strike, Sandeep’s book throws light on the impossible odds faced by the elite commando force

The odds were stacked against the NSG, the book reveals, not just by the terrorists’ superior planning and execution, but also by a callous officialdom that has done little over the years to ensure that the NSG remained India’s finest fighting force.

Has India learned the right lessons from how it handled 26/11? How can the NSG be freed from the stranglehold of red tape? Will India end up repeating the same mistakes if another terror strike were to take place?

Discussing these and other issues related to 26/11 is Sandeep Unnithan, who will appear on the Rediff Chat at 12 noon on November 26, 2014. Be there!
