Seshan files nomination for presidential poll

Former chief election commissioner T N Seshan and two others on Thursday filed their nominations for the July 14 presidential election.

Seshan, supported by the Shiv Sena and proposed and seconded by 100 electoral college members, submitted the Rs 15,000 security deposit to returning officer S Gopalan.

The other two who filed nominations -- Manabendra Sharma and Anand Swarup Sharma -- reportedly did not fulfil all requirements.

Vice-President K R Narayanan is likely to file his nomination on Friday.

June 23 is the last date for receiving nomination papers. Scrutiny will be done the next day. The last date for withdrawing nominations is June 24.
