Unfortunately, you are talking about scams, scandals and other issues, which are a shame to the country. I don't even understand why persons involved or probing these kinds of things should be nominated for man of the year. The point I'm trying to make is that any scam, problem, scandal is ABNORMAL and a person who brings them to people is just NORMAL which is the duty of every citizen in this country. Looking from the above angle the work of Rajendra Singh (Rajasthan) becomes significant primarily because he has manage to address one of the basic needs of the poor in India. His effort to construct the Johad in LAVA KA BAAS is a phenomenal one. This effort was by no means just physical and laborious but also involved an ugly struggle with the bureaucratic elements. While the Government of Rajasthan and Irrigation Dept were fully aware of the problems of groundwater in Rajasthan (27 out of 37 districts have ground water problems) not only were they sitting idle like burden on earth (ABNORMAL) but also they tried to disrupt whatever good work was going on, taking the narrowest view on the matter (I don't know what to call these jerks).
Because Rajendra Singh had to fight against these nerds with no other support except for those of the villagers, makes him above NORMAL. Why, call him SPECIAL! He is my nomination for this year. If your choice is based on popularity maybe he will not stand a chance, but if it is based on accomplishment nobody else stands a chance.
