Reason why: There wasn't much to choose from this year but I would give my vote to Sachin as he has been the highest scorer in test matches. Most importantly, he chose to go back for the World Cup matches after his father's death -- this is something for which I hold him in high esteem as I believe that very few would have done what he did.. It speaks volumes for his commitment and focus. And then to lift his team and country by scoring 140 runs was really amazing!
Later he battled against his back pain to play superbly in Sri Lanka. Not to forget that test series against the Pakis --.his 136 in the first Test is an innings I don't think I'll ever forget. When he made his comeback as the Indian captain, all eyes were on him and now he has on his hands what can be called the toughest assignment in cricket today -- leading the team Down Under has been an ordeal by fire for him.
