There is no one who understands and appreciates Indian art and literature anymore

Noted cultural activist and Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts Director Kapila Vatsyayan on Pupul Jayakar:

The exemplary zeal which Pupul Jayakar showed in spreading the Indian cultural and artistic expressions abroad will be long remembered.

The most notable of her contributions, I feel, is in the the field of handicrafts. No other Indian has worked as hard -- or has been as successful -- as Jayakar in this field. Nor do I think that there is anyone who understands and appreciates the country's art and literature more.

Jayakar's efforts to propagate J Krishnamurthi's philosophy are laudable. The world will remember her for her deep and incisive writings on the famous philosopher's teachings.

We have a lot to thank her for.
