CBI won't arrest Laloo till July 21
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday assured the Patna high court hearing the anticipatory bail petitions of Bihar Chief
Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav and state Animal Husbandry Minister
Bhola Ram Toofani that it will not arrest them in connection with Rs 9.5 billion fodder scam till July 21.
Seeking at least 10 days time for arguing against the petitions, CBI counsel Rakesh Kumar assured Justice Dharampal Sinha that Yadav and Toofani will not be arrested till the next hearing -- July 21.
Senior Supreme Court advocate Rajendra Prasad Sinha argued on
the chief minister's behalf while Shakil Ahmed Khan and S
Ajeem pleaded for Toofani.
Khan said the CBI had no evidence against Yadav and Toofani and hence it was trying to delay the hearing.
Laloo Yadav and Toofani have moved the high court, following the rejection of their bail petitions by the designated court on June 25. On June 27, the high court granted anticipatory bail to former state chief minister Jagannath Mishra in the same case.
