Mishra seeks anticipatory bail in fodder scam

Senior Congress leader and former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra on Wednesday filed an anticipatory bail petition in the CBI special judge's court in connection with his alleged involvement in the Rs 9.5 billion fodder scam.

Altogether 56 people, including Mishra and Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav figure in the CBI chargesheet on the fodder scam.

The CBI, after extensive raids in Patna on Tuesday, arrested four IAS officers besides one dismissed employee of the animal husbandry department.

CBI sources said the arrested officials included Labour Commissioner K Arumugam, Science and Technology Secretary Mahesh Prasad, Animal Husbandry Secretary Beck Julius and retired finance and development commissioner Phulchand Singh and suspended animal husbandry director Ram Raj Ram.

Sources said CBI sleuths were making efforts to nab Patna Industrial Area Development Authority managing director Sajal Chakravorty and Laloo Yadav's private secretary Mukul Kishore Kapoor, whose homes were also raided by the agency.
