Kalki bhagwan is not under illegal detention: Madras high court

A division bench of the Madras high court on Monday dismissed the habeas corpus petition seeking a direction for producing V Vijayakumar alias Kalki bhagwan before the court and securing his release from the ''illegal custody of Kalki ashram's chief administrator''.

Dismissing the petition (filed by advocate D Gopalan) Justices M S Janarthanam and K Gnanaprakasam observed that the perusal of the affidavit showed Gopalan had no knowledge about the matter. Besides, the petitioner had not lodged a complaint with the police.

Directing a person to be produced in court was a serious matter affecting the interests of those concerned and the person against whom allegations are made, the bench observed.

It said a plethora of material had been placed before it to prove that Kalki bhagwan was not under the illegal detention of Shankara Bhagwat Batha, the chief administrator.
