Chidambaram denied permission to address party meeting

Union Finance Minister and Tamil Maanila Congress leader P Chidambaram was denied permission by the police to address a party meeting on Thursday at Keezhakarai in Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram district.

Police said permission was denied because it had already been decided by the peace committee that no processions or meetings would be allowed in the town.

TMC's Ramanathapuram unit condemned the police action.

Chidambaram is expected to address another meeting in Ramanthapuram on Friday evening.
