Kuki militants attack Paite village, kill 20

At least 20 Paite tribals were killed and 88 houses set ablaze by Kuki militants at Singhat in Churachandpur district of Manipur on Monday.

The police said the militants, numbering about 50 and equipped with sophisticated weapons, attacked the Paite village, killing at least 20 tribals on the spot and injuring several others. The number of those injured was not immediately known.

About 600 Paite people fled from the village to Mizoram, the police said. Security forces from Churachandpur and Imphal have arrived in the village to try and control the situation.
