Joginder Singh proceeds on leave, may not take up new job
Joginder Singh on Tuesday said he was proceeding on a month's leave,
apparently protesting against his removal as CBI director.
''I will cross the bridge when I come to it,'' was his comment
when asked whether he intended to take up, after his leave
was over, his new posting as special secretary in the home
ministry.
Asked whether he felt bad about the change, the former CBI
director said, ''I take life as it comes.''
Confirming that he had sought leave, Singh said his daughter
was getting married later this month.
Singh will retire from the Indian Police Service in October.
R C Sharma, the new CBI director, assumed office on Tuesday.
Singh handed over charge at a function at the CBI
headquarters in New Delhi.
Official sources said Sharma would keep a low-profile, keeping in view the trouble encountered by his predecessor's controversial style.
Immediately after his appointment as director on Monday evening, Sharma called on Cabinet Secretary T S R Subramanian. This was
followed by a meeting with Minister of State for Personnel S R
Balasubramanian on Tuesday.
