Most of the problems with Congress because of communication gap: PM

Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda hopes some amicable solution will emerge from the talks between the Congress and United Front to resolve the current political crisis.

Addressing a rally of the Dalit Sena organised by Railway Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, the prime minister said the UF standing committee at its meeting on Wednesday had decided to constitute a coordination committee to thrash out the issues involved in the stalemate.

Most of the problems with the Congress, Deve Gowda said, were due to lack of communication.

In his first public reaction to the Congress withdrawal of support, he said it was not his concern whether he continued as prime minister. He claimed he was more worried about the Budget which had yet to be passed.

The prime minister hoped that India's people would realise that he was not seeking power at the expense of everything else. He said he had accepted the position mainly to protect the interests of the minorities and the poor. This, he said, he would continue to do even when he was not in power.

He hoped that all political parties would co-operate in the passage of the Budget when Parliament convened on Friday for the one-day session to consider the vote of confidence.

In the past ten days the prime minister said an atmosphere of uncertainty has been created for foreign investment and future economic growth. ''Let not the poor, the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and the minorities," he said, "suffer because of political games.''
