Congress targetting Pawar through IPL postponement

One of the major functionaries of the Indian Premier League [Images] said that the Congress party and particularly Home minister P Chidambaram [Images] was targeting Sharad Pawar [Images] when former questioned the IPL schedule and raised issues related to security.

He says, " It was Congress's proxy war against Pawar that has rebounded on them." He said " A country like India can not project that they can't hold the games because of a terrorist threat.At that rate we will have to close down the theatres.How can you run India like this?"

A senior member of the IPL management also said, " In coming election Congress saw that IPL rescheduling could become the issue amongst young voters so Chidambaram diluted his objections."

According to him the Congress-ruled states are still reluctant but because of the controversy, Bharatiya Janata Party [Images] ruled states like Gujarat might get extra matches. Some eight matches are being shifted out of Congress-run states. Probably, in Indore and some places in Gujarat there could be two matches in a day.

Since IPL matches are played under flood lights the new schedule is taking time to locate suitable grounds.
