In the first high-level contact between India and the new United States government, National Security Adviser M K Narayanan is expected to meet Richard Holbrooke, special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, in Munich during his three-day visit that began on Friday.

Narayanan is expected to discuss with Holbrooke the situation in the region and provide him with an Indian assessment of the same.

The NSA is expected to draw the envoy's attention to the fact that Pakistan continues to support and shelter terror elements which pose a threat not only to the region but the entire world, sources said.

He is also likely to impress upon Holbrooke that the US should suspend military aid to Pakistan being given for fight against terror.

Holbrooke will be in New Delhi [Images] next week for substantive discussions with the Indian officials on the regional situation.

Narayanan reached Munich to participate in an international conference on security.

At the conference, he is expected to underline how India's neighbourhood, particularly Pakistan, is a threat to the world considering its association with terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
