A high level meeting was held at Congress president Sonia Gandhi's [Images] residence at 10 Janpath on Monday to discuss the New Delhi serial blasts of Saturday and the Karnataka communal violence in which the Bajrang Dal is alleged to have let loose a reign of terror against the Christian community.

The meeting was attended by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister A K Antony, and senior Congress leaders Veerappa Moily, Margaret Alva and Digvijay Singh.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil [Images], under fire over the continuing terror blasts across the country, was not part of the meeting, setting off speculation that his days as minister may be numbered.
