We happened to be travelling cautiously down Marine Drive from Babulnath temple side in south Mumbai at about midnight when suddenly our taxi was forcibly made to swing to the left, off Marine Drive, towards the old Opera House by the police.

It took nearly five long minutes to make sense of the scene in front of us about 20 feet away. A newish silver Skoda had violently and crookedly rammed into a police-positioned barricade and a very loud and strange altercation was taking place between the police and the occupants of the car.
