Beware of miscreants... was a flash message sent out to all Tibetan settlements across India on Tuesday.
Even as protests by Tibetans grew across the country, Tibetans have a new issue to deal with.
A representative at one of the camps, who did not wish to be identified, told rediff.com that they have been getting inputs that several miscreants are trying to make their way into the camps and cause trouble.
There is every chance of them sparking violence in order to defeat the peaceful movement by Tibetans.
They suspect that miscreants could either be from a faction opposed to the Dalai Lama [Images] or even Chinese sympathizers.
Following the alert, frequent checks are being conducted at settlements.
Foreigners visiting the settlement have been asked to produce identity cards for security reasons. However, no such rule exists for Indians, a member at one of the settlements said.
The Karnataka police, who have been on their toes ever since the Tibetans commenced their protests in the state, say that a 24-hour vigil is being kept.
There is constant patrolling of the settlements across the state, police officials added.
