Distancing itself completely from Brajesh Mishra, the Bharatiya Janata Party said on Tuesday the former National Security Advisor has nothing to do with the party.

Stressing that Mishra was not a primary member, BJP spokesman in Parliament Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the party did not approve of his comments on the India-United States nuclear deal in an exclusive interview to rediff.com.

In the interview, Mishra said India should go ahead with the nuke deal, in stark contrast to the party's stand.

"We make it clear that we do not approve of the comments made by Mishra. He is not a member of the party and his views do not necessarily mean that they are views of the party," Malhotra said, when this issue was raised during a press conference in New Delhi.

He also took strong exception to the spirited defence of presidential address and the Union Budget by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] during his speeches in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

"The aggression shown by the prime minister was unbecoming of the office he holds. How can he blame the National Democratic Alliance government for all the ills of the United Progressive Alliance government. How can someone say the NDA government was responsible for 30-200 per cent rise in food prices and other essential commodities?" he asked.
