With the Gujjar stir for ST status showing no sign of abating, the Army erected barbed wire fencings on village roads leading to the agitation hotbed here as the security top brass met to find fresh ways to break the fortnight-long deadlock.

The fencings have been put up in around 20 villages in the Karwadi-Pilupura area to block unscrupulous elements from moving into the agitation spot through dirt roads, a senior Rajasthan Government official said.

Fresh deployments of Army and paramilitary forces were effected early Thursday  morning and women personnel of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAF) positioned as number of Gujjar women joining the protest was rising, he said.

Gujjar men and women protesters continued to hold train movement by blocking a key bridge on Banganga river in Bandikui area in violence-hit Dausa district and stalled traffic on the highway linking Sawaimodhopur in Rajasthan with Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh by staging a sit in, police reports said.

Newly appointed Rajasthan police chief K S Bains undertook a survey of agitation spots in Bharatpur and Dausa areas on Wednesday and later reviewed the situation with senior administration and security force officers in a bid find ways to break the deadlock.
