It was indeed a 'Super Tuesday' for New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Hillary scored a major victory over her rival, Barack Obama, in the US Presidential polls when she bagged California.

Hillary also notched up a victory in Massachusetts. The New York senator has termed her victory in Massachusetts as 'the upset of the night.'

Obama had received high-profile endorsements from Caroline Kennedy and Senators Edward Kennedy and John Kerry.

Even though Hillary won fewer states as compared to Obama, she retains more number of delegates, who would ensure her nomination in the Democratic National Convention. She has 668 candidates as compared to Obama's 653.

The New York senator also bagged New York, Arkansas, Arizona, New Jersey, Tennessee and Oklahoma primaries.

Hillary had been expected to do well in Arkansas, thanks to the state's political history. Her husband Bill Clinton [Images] had been the governor of the state for over 10 years.

The New York senator's win in Tennessee will pinch Obama, who had hoped to put up a good show in the state that has a black population of about 16 per cent.
