Gurgaon police commissioner Mohinder Lal, who is supervising the investigations into the kidney racket unearthed by the Moradabad police initially, said most of the recipients are foreign nationals who could afford highly expensive treatment.

Interpol has issued a red corner notice against Dr Amit Chaudhary and Dr Jeevan after a request from the Central Bureau of Investigation. "We have information that he has fled India and is now living in Canada [Images]. The recipients of the kidneys are mostly foreigners.

The patients belong to Greece, United States of America, UAE, Libiya and some of the Arab countries," Lal told rediff.com.

So far 12 persons -- six each by Moradabad and Gurgoan -- have been arrested and they are being interrogated. "We are also talking to Puja, Dr Chaudhary's wife. He has travel documents for various aliases. These include some in the names of Dr Santosh Raut and Dr Amit Raut," the Haryana police officer said.

So far eight properties belonging to Dr Chaudhary have been identified. More such properties could be found belonging to him.

Ten special teams have been formed to conduct raids in Jaipur, some places in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to unearth evidence against the culprits. "We have been able to identify that Dr Amit Chaudhary had been operating from  Liberity Health care unit and he was being helped by a nurse called Linda who works in Dr Ram Manohan Lohia hospital and she used to allegedly got 25 per cent commission for luring the victims," he said.
