The United States on Friday dismissed concerns that its nuclear deal with India may open up an opportunity for Pakistan and others to seek a similar agreement.
"India has a long and very solid record of non-proliferation, controlling exports, and a responsible international behaviour in that regard," US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher told reporters in Tokyo.
"So it was considered as an arrangement that worked with regard to India, not as some kind of model for other countries," Boucher was quoted as saying by Kyodo news agency.
Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani [Images] has said that Islamabad [Images] expects from United States a similar kind of nuclear deal that Washington has made with India.
"There should be no discrimination. If they want to give such nuclear status to India, we expect the same for Pakistan," Gilani had said during his recent visit
