Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] on Tuesday returned to his residence at 7, Race Course Road from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences where he had undergone a surgery.

Dr Singh is likely to take rest for a few days, said Dr Sanjaya Baru, PM's media advisor.

According to Dr Baru, Dr Singh will be working from home. He will be clearing files, too.

Even during his hospitalisation of three days, Dr Singh was informally working and was in touch with his Principal Secretary K P Nair and National Security Advisor M K Narayanan.

According to an earlier press release of the Prime Minister's Office, K Srinath Reddy, chairman of the medical expert panel for the prime minister, Dr Singh is convalescing after his surgery and is doing well.

The procedure (Trans Urethral Resection of the Prostate gland) was performed to treat benign Prostatic Hypertrophy of the Prostate (benign enlargement of the prostate gland).

The surgery was performed by a team of doctors led by Prof N P Gupta, head of the department of urology at AIIMS.

Dr Singh's hospitalisation and surgery has remained relatively a quiet affair in New Delhi, but it should not be a surprise to anyone because even after more than three years in office the prime minister's family members and his family affairs have remained out of media's radar.
