Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was hoodwinked into deportation back to Saudi Arabia a few hours after reaching Islamabad, his wife alleged.

"They (Pakistan authorities) said you (Sharif) will be presented in the court on Tuesday and till then we will keep you under arrest and keep in Landi prison (in Karachi). So, we are taking you to Karachi," Khulsoom Sharif told Aaj Tak from London [Images].

To this, Sharif said "it's okay" and boarded the plane from Islamabad, according to Khulsoom.

It was only after two hours that Sharif was told that the flight was going to Jeddah and that, too, when he had asked how long far was Karachi, she said.

"Then he came to know that he was being taken to Jeddah by deception," she said.
