Afghan President at 10 Downing Street
October 25, 2007

Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai is on a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom.

On Thursday, Karzai called on British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and discussed issues like bilateral relations, regional issues and Britain's role in Afghanistan's reconstruction.

Other issues that are believed to have come up for discussion include strengthening the security in Afghanistan and training of the Afghan national army.

During his visit, the Afghanistan President will also meet Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.

Karzai's visit to Britain comes at a time when the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation has sought more western troops to maintain security in his country.

He is accompanied on the trip by Foreign Affairs Minister Rangeen Dadfar Spanta, National Security Advisor Zalmai Rasoul and his spokesman Humayun Hamidzada.
