India and Malaysia have not yet interacted on the issue of alleged ill-treatment of ethnic Tamils in Kuala Lumpur and the issue has only been highlighted by the media, acting Malaysian High Commissioner to India, Norlin Ochman, said on Friday.
There was no country-to-country interaction on the issue, Ochman said. "Everything has been highlighted only in the media," she said and declined to comment further on it while responding to questions on the concerns in Tamil Nadu over the issue.
A Malaysian minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz had asked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to "lay off"' on Thursday after the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam leader had written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking appropriate action to stop the alleged ill-treatment of ethnic Tamils. Karunanidhi responded by saying it was his duty to bring it to the Centre's notice.
