The controversial "headless chickens" remarks of Indian Ambassador to US Ronen Sen may be given a quiet burial as the Rajya Sabha Privileges Committee is also understood to have recommended that the envoy be let off.

The committee, which met on Tuesday, is understood to have recommended that no further action is required in view of Sen accepting his "lapses" and apologising for his remarks, which had stalled the proceedings of both Houses of Parliament in the monsoon session.

The Lok Sabha Privileges Committee is believed to have recommended that Sen be let off with a word of caution for his 'act of indiscretion' in making the controversial "headless chickens" remark that he made against the critics of the Indo-US nuclear deal.

The Rajya Sabha panel headed by Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan was not harsh on Sen when it had summoned him sometime back as the envoy had tendered an unqualified apology.

Sen's remarks had created a furore in both Houses of Parliament in the monsoon session leading to demands that he be called to the Bar of the House.
