In a shocking incident in the country's most-literate state, a 3-year-old student was handed out a humiliating punishment of urine being forced down her throat allegedly by her class teacher.

The infuriated teacher did the act after the kid passed urine in the classroom in a village near Thrissur in Kerala [Images].

The teacher of the government-supported nursery school at Muppliam, Mary Dominic, was placed under suspension by the Child Welfare Officer of the Kodakara block panchayat on Monday after the incident that happened last week came to light, official sources said.

According to the complaint, the teacher meted out the harsh punishment, saying the child should not have urinated in the class room anymore.

A detailed inquiry was on in the case, district child welfare officer Ramadevi said.
