The Supreme Court will pronounce its judgement on Thursday on the demand for a CBI investigation into the fake encounter killing of alleged extortionist Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauser Bi.

A bench of Justices Tarun Chatterjee and P K Balasubramanyan had reserved the order on Tuesday after hearing various arguments supporting and opposing the demand.

While the Centre and Sohrabuddin's brother Rubbabuddin Sheikh had sought a CBI probe, the Gujarat government has strongly opposed the same.

On Tuesday, the court had expressed the view that the investigations being conducted by the Gujarat government were
proceeding in the right direction.
