Three policemen have been suspended for their involvement in a fake police encounter in which a woman and her daughter were killed in a Bihar village, Tirhut range DIG Gupteshwar Pandey said on Monday."It was found in the enquiry into the case that both mother and her daughter were killed in a fake encounter," Pandey told rediff.com over telephone.
Tirhut range DIG Gupteshwar Pandey in his report said that a mother and her daughter were killed in a fake police encounter in Ranjitpur village in Sitamarhi district in July 2005. Pandey in his report said that the sensational story of a police-Maoist guerrilla encounter was fake.
Pandey who had personally inquired into the case following the Patna High Court directives after a complaint filed by the relatives of the deceased said that the story of police encounter with Maoist was a part of calculative move to suppress the facts of killing of two innocent women.
It is the second case of fake police encounter in the state as early in May, People's Watch, a human rights body has alleged the Bihar government led by Nitish Kumar was suppressing the killing of three brothers in a fake police encounter in a village in Bhojpur district to save the skin of a ruling party legislator even as police claimed they were criminals killed during crossfire.
The three brothers -- Ram Singh, Lakshman Singh and Bharat Singh -- were allegedly killed on August 25, 2006 in Nawadaben village in Bhojpur district.
The family members and villagers alleged that ruling Janata Dal-United legislator Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha was responsible for the killings.
