The police on Thursday registered a case of loot against former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi, his son Amit and about 100 Congress workers in Dongargarh area of Rajnandgaon district.

"On the complaint of one Agat Shukla, a case of loot has been registered against Ajit Jogi, son Amit, NSUI state president Vikas Upadhyaya and about 100 other Congress workers," Dongargarh station house officer Anil Tiwari told PTI.

Shukla had complained that the Jogis and other Congress workers and leaders had snatched his camera, watch and cash last night in Dongargarh town of Rajnadgaon district, about 110 km from the state capital, Tiwari said over phone.

The SHO said the matter was under investigation. Jogi was earlier arrested on March 19, on charges of conspiracy and murder of NCP state Treasurer Ram Avatar Jaggi on June 3, 2003, when he was campaigning for Thursday's by-elections to Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha constituency.

He was granted bail on March 20.

When contacted, state's Chief Electoral Officer Alok Shukla said he had sought a detailed report on the incident from the Rajnandgaon administration.

Meanwhile, the Congress condemned the incident and accused the state BJP government of playing low level politics.

"It is nothing but low level politics by Chief Minister Raman Singh and his government as Jogi is paralysed from below the waist and a case of loot is registered against him," his political Secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said.
