An NRI accountant accused of killing a guest at a family party has been cleared of all charges, police said on Monday.

Sanjay Kanda, 23, of Ranelagh Road, Southall, knocked Makhan Singh unconscious during a row between two groups at a celebration in Heston, Middlesex.

The 32-year-old victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and was able to walk home but died a day later on January 23 last year.

Jurors at the Old Bailey heard he had suffered a brain haemorrhage as his head got hit on the ground after falling down.

Kanda was at first arrested on suspicion of murder but faced trial on a lesser charge of manslaughter.

He was cleared on November 14 last year after claiming that he only punched Singh to defend himself. Kanda, who had been on conditional bail, was discharged from court.

The prosecution had claimed Kanda was 'flashing his money around' at the celebration of the birth of his sister's first baby boy at the Heston Community Centre on the evening of January 21 last year.

When the bar closed at 11:30 pm (0500 IST) a dispute broke out between Kanda and his cousins, and the host Jatinder Rana and his friends.

The victim, Singh, who worked as an odd-job man for Rana, was then seen confronting Sanjay Kanda in the car park of the community centre at around 1am (0630 IST).

Kanda denied manslaughter throughout the trial.
