The CBI on Monday informed a city court that the extradition proceedings against Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, an accused in Bofors kickback case, would start on June 7 in an Argentinian court.

Filing a status report in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini, the central investigating agency informed that the Argentinian court had fixed June 7 to start hearing on India's request to extradite the Italian businessman.

The court asked the agency to file the next status report in the matter on July 28.

In its earlier status report on March 14, the agency claimed that it was taking time to translate the documents from Spanish to English for preparing extradition papers against the 68-year-old Italian national.

Quattrocchi was arrested in the Argentinian tourist hotspot of Iguazu on the basis of an Interpol Red Corner Notice issued in 1997 against him.
