Life is limping back to normalcy in the flood hit districts of Rajasthan -- Jodhpur, Pali and Banswara -- as the water from the ruptured Jaswant Sagar dam almost receded and the adjoining rivers are flowing below danger level, officials said in Jaipur on Tuesday.

The met department forecast heavy rains in the southern part of the state as moderate rains lashed the entire state on Tuesday with Mount Abu recording a maximum rainfall of 124 mm.

The residents are returning back to their villages after water level has receded in most of the areas, Collector Naresh Pal Gangwar told PTI. Eighteen mobile medical teams are visiting the villages and there were no unattended villagers in the district, he said, adding senior administrative officials too are visiting the villages to provide relief and succour to them.

Meanwhile, the irrigation department has initiated the repair work of the 118-year-old Jaswant Sagar dam, on a war footing and a two-feet high ring dam is being mended at the two places where it had ruptured discharging the rainy water, he said.
