Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded his two-day visit to New Delhi on Friday in which Russia and India decided to broad base their cooperation in civil nuclear field and step up partnership in the area of defence, space and trade.

Putin, who was the chief guest at the Republic Day celebration, was seen off at the airport by Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora.

The Russian leader in the day witnessed the Republic Day parade at the historic Rajpath with President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by his side.

Reflecting the significance of the relationship, Dr Singh broke protocol to receive Putin at the airport on Thursday. Putin held wide ranging talks with Singh and agreed to further strengthen and deepen their relations.

Stepping up civil nuclear cooperation with India, Russia agreed to build four atomic reactors in Tamil Nadu and more at yet-to-be-identified sites under landmark agreements reached on the first day of Putin's visit.

Two joint statements were issued and eight accords signed by the two sides, including one on cooperation on sharing of data from Russia's Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) and jointly launch a 'YOUTHSAT'.
