Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni on Saturday said if the Congress was voted back to power, it would ensure a government job to at least one member of each family in Punjab.

"If Congress regains power in Punjab, it would ensure a government job to at least one member of each family in the state," she said at a rally in favour of Congress candidate Jaspal Singh Pal at Garhdiwala town.

"Hoshiarpur district had been selected by the Centre to implement National Rural Employment Guarantee act for providing employment to at least one member of each family through my tireless efforts," she said.

Congress is the only secular party that could develop the state, eradicate unemployment, corruption and deliver positive results, Soni said.

The senior Congress leader said the status of Attari Railway Station at Wagah Indo-Pak border had been upgraded to international standard and it was renamed as Attari International Railway Station.

Criticising Avinash Rai Khanna, MP and state BJP chief, she said, "He has never raised his voice in Parliament to get implemented various development schemes of the Centre launched from time to time for the uplift of the backward district".

Lashing out at SAD, she said Sukhbir Singh Badal, MP and General Secretary of SAD (B), was trying to "befool the people of the state by posing his party as victorious prior to he holding of assembly elections".
