External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday night said the government was confident of addressing the Left concerns on issues of national interest, including the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.
"We will be able to address the Left concerns over the nuclear deal," he said after the Congress core group met with the United Progressive Alliance allies to break the logjam created by Communist Party of India-Marxist general secretary Prakash Karat's warning to the government of "serious consequences" if the deal was operationalised.
Mukherjee said the UPA constituents expressed full faith in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi [Images].
Dr Singh and Sonia had earlier in the day held the Congress core group meeting to work upon a mechanism that would look into the implications of the Hyde Act as demanded by the Left.
