Hamid Ansari has been elected as the 13th vice-president of India.
The United Progressive Alliance-Left candidate defeated National Democratic Alliance candidate Najma Heptulla [Images] and the Third Front candidate Rashid Masood in Friday's election.
Ansari got 455 votes and Heptulla got 222.
