As the Supreme Court chastised the local authorities for dragging their feet over sealing of unauthorised commercial establishments, the MCD on Tuesday resumed the court-ordered drive but took action only against nine such units.
The drive, that began around 4 pm, was restricted to the Lala Lajpat Rai Marg in Greater Kailash I in South Delhi.
Earlier, the MCD had put the drive on hold citing Delhi Police's inability to provide adequate security on account of the municipal elections that were held on April 5.
"Ample security was provided on Tuesday afternoon after which we resumed the sealing drive," a senior MCD official said.
Angered over a complaint that police and the MCD were acting in collusion on not resuming the sealing drive, the Supreme Court on Tuesday directed Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul and other police officers to personally appear before it on Wednesday.
