Avtar Grewal, who allegedly killed his wife in the American city of Houston and later fled to India, has been arrested.
Grewal, 32, was arrested at the international airport late Saturday night, police sources said.
A red-corner notice was issued against the man.
Grewal arrived in New Delhi on Saturday by a Continetal Airlines plane, sources said.
He allegedly killed his wife, 30-year-old Navneet Kaur, late Thursday in her home in Arizona capital where she lived alone.
Kaur was seeking a divorce from Grewal, Phoenix police said. The two had split, and he was living in Vancouver, Canada.
Grewal was seen outside his wife's home on Thursday, police said.
Police believe he flew from Canada to Phoenix.
When Kaur didn't show up for work Friday morning, her co-workers went to her house to check on her and found blood and signs of a struggle, police said on Saturday.
Investigators then found Kaur's body. Police have not yet released how she was killed but that they have 'an initial idea', and are waiting to for the medical examiner to confirm, Detective Bob Ragsdale, a Phoenix police spokesman, was quoted as saying by the daily Arizona Republic.
After the crime, Grewal flew out of Phoenix to New Jersey on a one-way ticket, then purchased a one-way ticket to India, police said.
