Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, who was admitted to a hospital in San Diego, is likely to released from the hospital in a day or two, hospital sources said on Tuesday.

Shankar, suffering from fever and mild pneumonia, was admitted in the intensive care unit of the hospital a few days ago.
The sources said there is no cause of anxiety as his condition has improved to the point where his release is being contemplated. Earlier, family spokesperson Jennifer said the sitar maestro was receiving the 'best care.'

"All I can say is that he is in the hospital and in the best care he can be. His wife Sukanya is pretty much at his side," she told PTI. She, however, did not give the name of the hospital in which Shankar has been admitted.

Asked if there was a telephone number for Shankar's wife, Jennifer who is with the Ravi Shankar Foundation at Encinitas, California replied: "There is definitely not a number. She is not even answering personal calls."

Pressed on the nature of the illness, Jennifer said: "I am not allowed to give that out. We appreciate your understanding of that."

Shankar, 86, was admitted to the hospital for a routine check-up, his family sources said in Kolkata last night. There is nothing to worry about the health of the sitarist who is undergoing routine medical check-up, they said.
