10 Dawood aides sent to police custody

Local courts in Mumbai on Wednesday remanded 10 persons linked to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim who were deported from Dubai to police custody for different periods.

All of them are wanted in connection with various cases registered in the city for crimes ranging from extortion to murder.

The Esplanade court remanded Jamil Haji Shaikh alias Baba Sanjay, Shaikh Mohammed Suleman and Mohammed Salim Mohammed Iqbal Qureshi alias Salim Fruit and Sayyed Zaki Mehendi to police custody till December 5.

Mustapha Amin Gulam Mehmood and Shakil Ahmed alias Khotal Shakil were remanded to police custody till December 2. Abdul Aziz Dholakia was remanded to police custody till December 5. Arif Aboobakr Shaikh and Shahid Qureshi were remanded to police custody till November 30.

Anjum Fazlani was booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act for involvement in the Bharat Shah case. Fazalni allegedly threatened Salman Khan to reduce his fee for acting in the movie Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, which was financed by Shah. He was remanded to police custody till December 5 by the MCOCA court.
