Justice for Priyadarshini, the umbrella organisation of NGOs fighting for the early hearing of the Central Bureau of Investigation appeal against the acquittal of Santosh Kumar Singh, prime suspect in the rape and murder of law student Priyadarshini Mattoo more then 10 years ago, has decided to meet President A P J Abdul Kalam and seek his intervention in the case.

Though Santosh Kumar Singh, son of a senior IPS officer, was let off because of lack of evidence against him, the trial judge made some critical comments about him saying he knew that Santosh Kumar Singh had murdered Priyadarshini, but he was letting off the accused for absence of evidence.

Santosh Kumar is now praticing law in Tees Hazari in Delhi.

Indu Jalali, a friend of the victim, asked mediapersons to help in highlighting the case just as they had done in the case of Jessica Lal [Images].

"The CBI had filed an appeal against the acquittal order in 1996 and in 10 years, the matter has not come up for hearing even once," she pointed out.

"A war cry for justice in the heart of Delhi, a protest that shakes the pillars of the government. We have one demand -- let justice be delivered immediately," said Aditya Raj.

"We will hold a protest rally on July 23 to highlight the injustice done to Priyadarshini. We hope all those who feel concerned about the case will turn up to do their bit," he said.

Sabrina Lal, sister of Jessica, is expected to join the demonstration.

Shiv Khera, George Fernandes [Images] and Maneka Gandhi have also promised to be there.

Similar protest marches are also being organised in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Jammu and Srinagar [Images] on the same day.

Priyadarshini's father C L Mattoo will be holding a music concert in Jammu to mark the birthday of his darling daughter.

Mattoo continues to get threatening calls from unidentified persons who want him to give up his fight for justice.

The seventy-five-year-old man has determined to fight till his last breath and seek justice for his daughter.
