Samajwadi Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday said his party would ponder withdrawing support to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government since it had failed to take on the opportunistic forces.

"SP had supported the UPA government to fight communal forces, but it has utterly failed to do so," he claimed.

Blaming the Centre for prevailing high prices of essential commodities in the country, Yadav said whenever Congress came to power, inflation had skyrocketed. "Even, Congress is worried about inflation now and is acting like an opposition party to put pressure on the central government to curb high prices."

The chief minister lamented that Congress always talked about decimating the SP, but would only fall flat in its endeavour. "Congress has never believed in democracy and always tries to suppress democratic institutions," he observed.

Asserting that his party never indulged in caste-based politics for consolidating vote bank, he listed the achievements of his government and maintained that he had fulfilled all the promises made in the SP manifesto.
